Full of Wonder...

This blog is going to start off a bit mixed up but there is reasoning to this...

Someone I know of has been in hospital for quite a while and the hospital he was in couldn't find out what was wrong with him. He got moved to another hospital where he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Where it has been left so long he is now been refused operations and medical treatment as it is too late to cure.

Last night before I got in the shower I was watching the Pride of Britain Awards, there were alot of inspiring stories being told that emotionally hit me and was also a story about someone with cancer.

I do alot of thinking when I am in the shower and last night I was listening to a particular song; Emeli Sande - Wonder.

So all three of these mixed together made me think...I wonder how many people are actually out there living with cancer and not knowing it? Just because the hospital/ doctors have said that there is nothing wrong with them (or something along them lines). It's not fair on the people like the guy I talked about to be told that there is nothing that the hospital can do because it is too late. The hospitals should be able to detect something so serious like cancer straight away!!!

Kelly Clarkson Stronger Tour

Saturday 20th October was the last date of the Stronger Tour at Wembley Stadium in London, my home town. I didn't  queue for hours to get really close as I can't be bothered with that anymore, I'm getting old for that now, haha. Especially as this was the third time seeing her, the first time being at Hammersmith Apollo in 2006 and the second time being in Regent Street, London switching the Christmas lights on.

I arrived at the stadium a few minutes before the doors opened, I got given a wrist band as I was standing and man they put it on me really tightly - lack of circulation guys!!! Anyway, so I got into the venue and went straight to the merchandise. I had to get myself a new t-shirt, one that actually fits me this time. They also had a really seductive and sexy poster, I was going to get it but I didn't want to be carrying it inside the venue and I can never be bothered to queue up after the gig as the queues are crazy.

There were so many gays and lesbians there. Usually I look around and there are a couple here and there but no, this night I was surrounded by them. I wasn't complaining of course ;)

Cover Drive were the support act for Kelly, usually I think the songs are ok and I don't mind listening to them but after seeing them do their set I actually LOVE them (I even got their album the following day). Apart from the fact that the lead singer treated the audience like they were 12 years old, but she was nice to look at.

Kelly Clarkson came on just after 9pm, the intro with the backdrop displaying photographs and clips of her past with some dubstep music which totally got me in the mood for the gig. Kelly is AMAZING live, there isn't a note that goes off key and she never sounds out of tune. She has to be the best person I have seen live on vocal ability. The opening song was 'My Life Would Suck Without You' with 17 more tracks to follow including her hit singles, a new song coming on the new album (being released later this year) and a cover of 'We Are Young by FUN' and 'When It Don't Come Easy by Patty Griffin'.

Kelly didn't stay on stage the whole entire time, she ran down one side of the audience to get to the back to sing to the people sitting down at the back of the stadium. She then ran back down the other side of the audience. I went to the side of the stadium to get a closer look at her, she was running like lightning but I had the chance to see her VERY close. The only thing that was keeping me apart from her was the barrier, she was about an arms length away so that goes to show how close she actually was.

During the song 'Don't You Wanna Stay feat. Jason Aldean' the back drop was up and they projected a live performance of Jason singing which made it look and feel as if he was there. I thought this was very cleverly done.

The heat of the stadium was immense, even Kelly was saying how sweaty she was in her Texas accent "Dayumm it is hot". I had two people around me faint, one must of smacked her head on the fall as her face was covered in blood.

So the gig ended and I managed to get the set list, YEAH BOI!!! It was raining outside and I didn't care because it cooled me down.

Such an AMAZING gig , I hope Kelly comes back for another tour, I am totally going!!!

Paranormal Activity 4

It's been a bit of a crazy week with all the films I've seen, so Friday I went out with my mates and watched Paranormal Activity 4. I never used to watch horror films until the first Paranormal Activity. I loved the films so much that I started to watch more horror films, I don't care what people say, I LOVE the Paranormal Activity series of films.

I thought this film was another good one, the trailer made it seem really jumpy and scary, so I was prepared for a lot of jumps in my seat especially in the surround sounded theatre.

I was right with my predictions, it was pretty jumpy, but no I didn't scream. This one has more figures in it, for example shadows, or with this camera scene the dots are of a figure etc. Those scenes are pretty freaky and that damn cat they own, makes you jump all the time!

Alex's boyfriend Ben was pretty funny with the occasional comments he would say when he is holding the camera and it seemed that whenever the mum was on screen it was always a view of her knockers, haha.

*spoiler alert*  There was a part of the film that was quite amusing in my eyes, this was when Alex was locked in the garage with the car running and the fumes trying to kill her. When she smashed the car in and reversed it out to escape her death, the parents think she is going crazy and rebelling as they don't believe all of the paranormal things going on, poor Alex.

I also can't believe HUNTER! That's all i'm saying...all those people who have seen it will know what I mean and all those who haven't seen it go watch it so you can find out what I mean.

Overall a really good film, a shame about the ending though as it was pretty unbelieveable but good news is that they left it at another cliffhanger for another film.

Taken 2

I don't want to say too much for the people who haven't seen this film, so I wanna keep this one brief.

Being a huge fan of Taken when they said they would release a second one I couldn't wait for it to come out in the cinema, it HAD to be watched. Last week I finally watched it, thinking that it wouldn't be as good as the first I was surprised at how good it actually was. Still not sure if it beats the first one though.

The only part of the film I didn't like was when Kim was the driver in the car chase. During this scene Bryan (Liam Neeson) irritated me quite a bit, he would constantly say to her "Come on" or "Go Go". This scene was a good few minutes long and the repetition of them words were pretty annoying.

Liam Neeson is always a great actor and even Maggie Grace who played Kim was another really good actress.

Overall though a really good film, I'm sure there will be a Taken 3 after this ending.

Peanut Butter Squares...With A Twist

My mum is slightly obssessed with doing a new recipe from Lorraine Pascale's new book, 'Lorraine Pascale's Fast Fresh and Easy Food'. Today she wanted to either make cakes or do the 'Peanut Butter Squares' again for the third time. I asked her "what's the occassion?" but there was no occassion. It was because she was bored as I took over the TV watching the Poland vs. England football match. I told her it's fattening and if she makes them I will only eat them. Her response was "will power and don't eat them", the problem is that she moans if no one eats them, so talk about being in a catch 22.

When I first tried the 'Peanut Butter Squares' my mum made they tasted like 'Reese's Peanut Butter Cups'. As I am a HUGE american candy fan, I told my mum to do a different twist this time and put them in cake papers. This was so they look and taste more like 'Reese's Peanut Butter Cups'.

The picture at the top of this blog is how they turned out, they taste just as good as 'Reese's Peanut Butter Cups' too. So these are definitely a hit, go buy Lorraine's book and then you can make them yourself.

Made In Chelsea - Season 4

So Made In Chelsea Season 4 aired last night on e4 and I'm so glad that it's back on our screens. Hugo isn't in it anymore and there are 4 new additions to the show, Sam Cussins, Andy Jordan, Stevie Johnson and Ianthe Cochrane-Stack. Here's a little breakdown of the newbies:

Andy - An old friend of Jamie's since he was 14 and is really into Louise, he got himself into a disagreement with Spencer at Victoria's swimwear launch and on the terrace at Jamie, Francis & Proudlock's housewarming.

Stevie - He seems to always be with Andy wherever he goes and seems a good laugh.

Sam - He wasn't in it til the near to the end, he knew Spencer from uni and used the worst chat up line on Binky "single and ready to mingle".

Ianthe - Currently dating Richard, she seems really genuine.

Let me give you the lowdown on most of the characters in just one bullet point:
  • Spencer and Louise were on a break all summer - aka Spencer being on the TV programme 'The Bachelor'.
  • Richard has a new girlfriend called Ianthe who kind of looks like Kimberley.
  • Ollie got his ponytail chopped off...literally.
  • Binky nearly takes a driving lesson off of Ollie - pretty amusing especially when she says "yeah whatever it's a shit car" about his car.
  • Cheska is being nice to Richard's new girlfriend but is now getting involved with Ollie thinking that he is making radical changes.
  • Proudlock painted a portrait combining the faces of Jamie, Francis and himself that is displayed in the house they share.
  • Jamie is having a drought with girls, he doesn't want to fool around with girls anymore he wants to settle down.
  • Victoria has a new swimwear range and looks slightly different compared to last season.
  • Millie wasn't in the episode much which was disappointing as she is one of my favourites.
  • Mark Francis, Rosie and Francis haven't  changed.
It was a really good come back episode although some of the scenes were really badly staged, but this didn't stop me from watching it.

Next episode looks really good, I'm hoping Binky & Jamie get together. I've been waiting ages for them to hook up.

(I totally had to tag the location for this blog as Chelsea, haha!)

Pink Bolt Zero

If you know me well enough, you will know that I LOVE energy drinks! I was in Sainsbury's at the weekend stocking up on energy drinks when I saw this one. The flavour attracted me in buying it, strawberry & kiwi.

I decided to give it a try today and I've gotta say I am totally disappointed in this drink. The taste is really weak, and you can't distinct the flavours. You can tell strawberry is in the ingredients but you can't taste the kiwi at all. As for the energy kick, it did nothing for me...although I was dancing around in my room whilst drinking it but the only reason for that was because I was blasting my music REALLY loud! I guess the other reason why it probably wasn't as effective was because it has no added sugar.

Another weird but clever thing I noticed about the packaging was that the ring pull wasn't facing the label. When I thought about it, I thought this was clever of the marketing team. If you are drinking this in public, everyone will be able to read what you are drinking as it will be facing them as you take a drink of 'Pink Bolt Zero'.

All in all I wouldn't recommend this drink, stick to the usual energy drinks you go for.

Spicy Chicken Quesadilla - Chiquito's

So it was my little niece's 5th birthday on Friday and all of the family get together and go out for a meal, this time we hit Chiquito's in Park Royal.

I start off with a 'June Bug' cocktail and later have a 'Sex On The Beach' cocktail jug that my little sister bought for us to share.

The one thing about Chiquito's, I love everything on the menu and it takes me forever to choose. I was to either choose fajita's, quesadilla or enchilada's. I'm a bit addicted to quesadilla's at the moment cos they are never made at home, so if I see them on the menu I HAVE to have them. So i went for 'Spicy Chicken Quesadilla' with chips (as above), I was going to have the healthier option of having rice, but I was really fancying chips. I definitely made the right choice, the tastes melted in my mouth. The chicken was so succulent, it wasn't very spicy either so it was easy to eat. It doesn't look much on the plate and you would think this isn't going to fill you up, but it really did. I couldn't even fit in a dessert because I was that stuffed, but that always the way with me! :(
