Saturday 20th October was the last date of the Stronger Tour at Wembley Stadium in London, my home town. I didn't queue for hours to get really close as I can't be bothered with that anymore, I'm getting old for that now, haha. Especially as this was the third time seeing her, the first time being at Hammersmith Apollo in 2006 and the second time being in Regent Street, London switching the Christmas lights on.
I arrived at the stadium a few minutes before the doors opened, I got given a wrist band as I was standing and man they put it on me really tightly - lack of circulation guys!!! Anyway, so I got into the venue and went straight to the merchandise. I had to get myself a new t-shirt, one that actually fits me this time. They also had a really seductive and sexy poster, I was going to get it but I didn't want to be carrying it inside the venue and I can never be bothered to queue up after the gig as the queues are crazy.
There were so many gays and lesbians there. Usually I look around and there are a couple here and there but no, this night I was surrounded by them. I wasn't complaining of course ;)
Cover Drive were the support act for Kelly, usually I think the songs are ok and I don't mind listening to them but after seeing them do their set I actually LOVE them (I even got their album the following day). Apart from the fact that the lead singer treated the audience like they were 12 years old, but she was nice to look at.
Kelly Clarkson came on just after 9pm, the intro with the backdrop displaying photographs and clips of her past with some dubstep music which totally got me in the mood for the gig. Kelly is AMAZING live, there isn't a note that goes off key and she never sounds out of tune. She has to be the best person I have seen live on vocal ability. The opening song was 'My Life Would Suck Without You' with 17 more tracks to follow including her hit singles, a new song coming on the new album (being released later this year) and a cover of 'We Are Young by FUN' and 'When It Don't Come Easy by Patty Griffin'.
Kelly didn't stay on stage the whole entire time, she ran down one side of the audience to get to the back to sing to the people sitting down at the back of the stadium. She then ran back down the other side of the audience. I went to the side of the stadium to get a closer look at her, she was running like lightning but I had the chance to see her VERY close. The only thing that was keeping me apart from her was the barrier, she was about an arms length away so that goes to show how close she actually was.
During the song 'Don't You Wanna Stay feat. Jason Aldean' the back drop was up and they projected a live performance of Jason singing which made it look and feel as if he was there. I thought this was very cleverly done.
The heat of the stadium was immense, even Kelly was saying how sweaty she was in her Texas accent "Dayumm it is hot". I had two people around me faint, one must of smacked her head on the fall as her face was covered in blood.
So the gig ended and I managed to get the set list, YEAH BOI!!! It was raining outside and I didn't care because it cooled me down.
Such an AMAZING gig , I hope Kelly comes back for another tour, I am totally going!!!
